Pay for family caregiving: how it works
Assessed care time and your employment contract determine your pay. An initial calculation helps you understand the scale.
How much could I earn?
The Spitex partners we work with pay up to CHF 38 per paid care hour. Calculate paid hours per day × care days × agreed hourly rate. Ask whether the quoted pay is gross or net and which supplements or deductions apply.
A case from our work
A granddaughter supported by Pflegeklar cares for her grandmother. For 90 minutes of paid basic care on 30 days, an example using a partner rate of up to CHF 38 an hour gives CHF 1'710 a month. Your approved hours and contract terms are agreed individually.
Who pays the salary?
The Spitex organisation is your employer. Funding for recognised care services and your salary are separate matters. Health insurance contributions are therefore not the same as your hourly wage.
What costs might the family pay?
Pflegeklar’s advice is free. For care services, the insured person may face a deductible, co-payment and a cantonal care cost contribution. Before employment begins, ask for a clear breakdown for your situation.
