Zurich: training and supervision

Zurich requires a care assistant course or equivalent qualification within one year of employment. Supervision includes at least fortnightly phone contact and monthly visits. Ask the partner about course planning and your regular nursing contact.

Aargau: municipality and funding

In Aargau, the municipality of residence funds residual outpatient care costs. Billing arrangements depend in part on agreements with the provider. Before starting, clarify what the partner handles and which costs remain for the insured person.

Bern: your individual cost breakdown

Bern provides 2026 care cost contribution calculation tools, including one for family caregivers. Ask the partner to calculate your situation using the current basis and explain the breakdown.

St. Gallen: clarify the billing arrangement

St. Gallen publishes information on residual funding framework agreements for Spitex providers without a municipal service agreement. Ask which arrangement your provider uses and who handles municipal queries. This brings clarity before the first visit.

Schwyz: contributions and possible relief

Schwyz explains outpatient care cost sharing, exemptions from care cost contributions for minors and possible hardship applications to the municipality. Ask which rules apply to your family, especially with a provider from another canton.
